The Indian School Celebrates Tamil Day

 The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) joyously celebrated Tamil Day at the Isa Town campus on Sunday, January 14, 2024, with a vibrant array of programs. The event, organized by the Department of Tamil, commemorated Thai Pongal, a multi-day harvest festival cherished by the Tamil community. Among the distinguished attendees were ISB Honorary Secretary V Rajapandian, Assistant Secretary Ranjini Mohan, Executive Committee Members Bonny Joseph and Biju George, Principal VR Palaniswamy, Staff Representative Parvathi Devadas, Vice-Principals, Head Teachers, Heads of Departments, and students.


Honorary Secretary V Rajapandian inaugurated the program by lighting the traditional lamp, emphasizing the beauty and significance of the Tamil language, with its rich heritage of ancient literature. The ceremony began with the national anthems of Bahrain and India, followed by the traditional lamp lighting and school prayer. Student Samiqa Yelayar recited the Holy Quran, and Shashini Gnanasekaran delivered the welcome address. Sri Oviya Manikandan expressed gratitude in the vote of thanks. The Master of Ceremonies were Rajeevan Rajkumar, Vishwajanani Janarthanan, and Sriram Suresh, while Tamil Teacher Rajeswari Manikandan presented the departmental report.

A group of students presented 'Thamizh Thaai Vazhthu' and a group song. The Tamilodu Vilayadu segment featured students Shan Epsiba Akshaya Sundaramahalingam, Anns Meljin, and Dushyant Ravichandran, hosted by Esther Packiaselvi John. Invocation dance performances were given by Lakshaya Ramakrishnan, Sharmathi Anantha Krishnan, Shruthilaya, Booja Strisa Thilip Kumar, and Subiksha Sree. The audience was further entertained by a folk dance.

ISB Honorary Chairman Binu Mannil Varughese, Honorary Secretary V Rajapandian, Executive Committee members, and Principal VR Palaniswamy extended their congratulations to the enthusiastic children for their active participation and applauded the teachers for their coordinated efforts in ensuring the event's grand success.
