Indian School Celebrates Vishwa Hindi Divas

 The Indian School Bahrain (ISB), in association with the Indian Embassy, joyously celebrated Vishwa Hindi Divas  through a series of vibrant programs at the Jashanmal Auditorium on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.   Indian Ambassador Vinod K Jacob graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, inaugurating the festivities by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Among the dignitaries present were ISB Hon. Secretary Rajapandian Varada Pillai, Hon.Vice-Chairman Dr. Mohammed Faizal, Hon. Assistant Secretary Ranjini Mohan, Hon.  Executive Committee Members Mithun Mohan, Mohammad Nayaz Ullah, Principal V R Palaniswamy, Staff Representative Parvathi Devadasan, Vice-Principals, Head Teachers, Heads of Departments, and other esteemed guests.

Ambassador Vinod K Jacob, in his address, eloquently highlighted the significant contributions of Hindi in enriching Indian culture. He extended his congratulations to the winners of the celebration and conveyed the message from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated to Vishwa Hindi Divas. The Ambassador commended the school for its dedicated efforts in organizing the grand celebration of Vishwa Hindi Divas. Mohammed Nayaz Ullah  emphasized the role of Hindi as a unifying language in India.

The program, orchestrated by the Hindi Department, commenced with the national anthems of Bahrain and India, followed by the school prayer. Grade 7 student Shahid Qamar recited verses from the Holy Qur’an.  Neha Keshubhai Bhogesara  extended a warm welcome to the gathering, marking the grand finale of the celebrations conducted in two phases. The first phase featured inter-school competitions held in December, engaging various CBSE schools, including The New Millennium School, The Asian School, The New Indian School, Bahrain Indian School, New Horizon School, and Ibn Al Hytham Islamic School.

The inter-school competitions included Hindi Handwriting for Std. IV, Hindi Storytelling for Std. V, Hindi Poem Recitation for Std. VI, Hindi Doha Recitation   for Std. VII, Hindi Solo Song for Std. VIII, Hindi Speech for Std. IX, and Hindi Poster Making  for Std. X. Apart from these competitions, the program featured a diverse array of patriotic songs, value-based songs, and folk dances. First prize winners in categories such as Hindi Poem Recitation, Hindi Doha Recitation, and Hindi Solo Song showcased their talents.

The announcement of winners was made by the Head of Department, Baboo Khan, and the awardees were presented with trophies and certificates by the Chief Guest. The organizing committee members headed by Baboo Khan coordinated the programme.  The program was  hosted by school students Neha Keshubhai Bhogesara, Janki Sajikumar, Mohammed Adeeb Khan, Anish Santosh, Aiza Mariam, Ayesha Khan, Gauri Sharma, Khadeeja Subhani, Afrah Mohammed, and Ishan Mistry. Gauri Sharma  delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude for the successful celebration of Vishwa Hindi Divas.

ISB Hon.Chairman Adv. Binu Mannil Varughese, Hon.Secretary Rajapandian Varada Pillai,  EC Members and Principal VR Palaniswamy congratulated the winners and appreciated the teachers for their enthusiastic participation which made the programme a success.
