The Indian School Celebrates English Day

 The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) celebrated  English Day  on Thursday, October 12, 2023 which  served as an occasion for students to celebrate and improve their English language skills while fostering an appreciation for the language's cultural and literary aspects. The  English Day festivities, a tradition deeply cherished by students and staff alike, unfolded with an unparalleled blend of enthusiasm, creativity, and literary finesse.  Principal VR Palaniswamy  inaugurated the programme  by lighting the lamp.   Staff Representative Johnson K Devassy, Vice-Principals, Head Teachers and Heads of Departments attended.      The programme began with the national anthems of Bahrain and India, followed by the recitation of Holy Quran and the school prayer. Shan D Louis(XI J) welcomed the gathering which was followed by a video presentation. The department organized various activities in a phased manner  for the students of all levels as   part of the  celebrations. Students of grade 4 and 5 presented an action song. Students of class 9 and 10 recited poems. Class 11 students presented a skit on  Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night  which  added a dramatic flair to the event.  It was delightful to see students of grade 6 to 8 presenting fictional characters dressed up in various costumes, giving vent to their creativity. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, wherein the winners of the various competitions were felicitated. HoD GT Mani coordinated the programme. Elizabeth Bobby Thomas (XI C) gave vote of thanks.  
The English Day was a day to remember, celebrating the beauty of the English language and its rich literary heritage. It not only showcased the students' linguistic prowess but also their creativity, imagination, and dramatic skills.
ISB Hon.Chairman Prince S Natarajan, Hon.Secretary Saji Antony and Principal VR Palaniswamy congratulated the students on their exemplary show of creativity and the teachers for their meticulous planning  in organizing the English Day which reinforced the school’s commitment to promote the English language and literature.    The event, dedicated to the celebration of the English language and the world of literature, was a resounding success.
