ISB Community Sports Fest 2023: Indian Embassy Seniors and ISB Juniors win

 The Indian Embassy Seniors Team  and ISB Juniors Team won the inaugural cricket matches of the  Floodlit Cricket Tournament held at the Indian School Ground on Friday as part of the ISB Community Sports Fest 2023.

In the first show match, the Indian Embassy Seniors Team defeated ISB Seniors Team by 35 runs. Batting first the Embassy Seniors Team scored 78 for 4 wickets in 8 overs. Chasing the target, the ISB Seniors Team could score only 43 runs losing 5 wickets.

In the second match, the ISB Juniors Team showed a brilliant batting display. Chasing the target 38/7 set by the Embassy Juniors Team, the ISB finished with 39 losing only 3 wickets.

Earlier Indian Ambassador HE Piyush Srivastava inaugurated the Floodlit Cricket Tournament under the patronage of the Indian Embassy in the ISB athletic grounds in Isa Town campus. ISB Hon. Chairman Prince S Natarajan, Hon. Secretary Saji Antony, Executive Committee Member-Sports Rajesh MN, EC Member-Finance  Binu Mannil Varughese, EC Member-Academics Muhammad Khursheed Alam, EC Member-Transport  Mohammed  Nayaz Ullah, Riffa Campus Principal Pamela Xavier, Bahrain Cricket Federation(BCF) Advisory Board Chairman Mohammed Mansoor, BCF Secretary General Anoop Kewalram, Community Leaders Muhammad Hussain Malim, Vipin PM, Organizing Committee General Convener Tawfeeq,  Vice-Principals and parents  attended the inaugural ceremony. Indian Ambassador Piyush Srivastava said such sports events can bring the community together, increasing strong social bonds. Prince S Natarajan in his presidential address thanked the Indian Embassy for their patronage of the community sports meet. Physical Education HoD Saikat Sarkar welcomed the gathering. EC-Member-Sports Rajesh MN introduced the conveners of various tournaments.
Indian Embassy Second Secretary and Seniors Team Captain Ravi Kumar Jain received the trophy from ISB Chairman Prince Natarajan. The cricket tournament is held in association with Bahrain Cricket Federation for Indian nationals in the Kingdom  as  part of the ISB Community Sports Fest 2023 under the patronage of the Indian Embassy in Bahrain.

Inaugurating the match, the  Indian Ambassador displayed his batting and bowling skills.   Approximately 32 teams have registered for the tournament which will be held on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays in the coming weeks.   Other sports events including Badminton, Table Tennis, Football, Volleyball, Tug of War, Kabaddi and Athletics will also be held in the coming weeks expecting the enthusiastic support and participation of the Indian School parents and Indian community members in addition to various schools in the Kingdom.   Indian School officials said community sports fest creates a culture of wellness and boosts the camaraderie among the community.
ISB Community Sports Fest 2023 is held in celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav which is an initiative of the Government of India to commemorate the 75 years of independence and the glorious history of its people, culture, and achievements. The sports fest is also held in celebration of the 50 years of diplomatic relations between India and the Kingdom of Bahrain. Earlier as part of the ISB Community Sports Fest 2023 a Chathuranga (Chess) Tournament was held by the Indian School under the patronage of the Indian Embassy on May 13, 14 and 15, 2023.
