ISB Riffa Campus Students Celebrate Health and Safety Week

The Indian School Riffa campus students celebrated ‘Health, Safety, Security and Environmental protection week' from April 16 to 20,2023.  Students and teachers across the school participated in the awareness week celebrations aimed to rekindle the minds of young learners to adopt a sensitive approach towards HSSE aspects and to educate students how small changes can contribute positively to the overall wellbeing.

The activities placed importance on recycling practices, understanding the 5R principle (refuse, reduce, reuse, repurpose, and then recycle), growing plants etc. Students came up with crafts ideas using  waste materials. Activities related to the safety and security rules in and outside the school included  making sure to wear the bus  badges, learning important phone numbers and  road safety.  Quiz on nutritious food,  good eating habits and rehydrating from time to time, and a refreshing tour of the school garden were all part of the programme. Students also created amazing artwork for their bulletin boards to encourage school discipline, good manners, use of magic words (excuse me, please, thank you, pardon me and so on). They also talked about wonderful books to read and the habit of reading books, among other things.
A day was set aside specifically for student talk shows in the classroom, where they discussed good practices and ways to preserve water,  reducing pollution, ill effects of plastic and ideas to reduce its use, switching off lights and electrical equipment when not in use etc. Children also enjoyed drawing and colouring activities portraying best practices for a sustainable ecosystem and other HSSE related topics.
Earth Day celebrations were also held during the week, where students deliberated on the importance of planting trees and had a motivational session with coloring tasks based on the Earth Day theme ‘Save Water  Save Earth’.  KG students and teachers had a splash together on Earth Day as they indulged in take away and group activities related to the theme and took this opportunity to learn a new Earth Day song.
The little ones were delighted to be in outfits that went with the activities of the week. The interactive workshops concluded with photo sessions, where students showcased their picturesque artwork of The Earth visualizing humanity and nature living in harmony. Every year the school   organises HSSE week for all its students to continuously improve their  commitment to health, safety and the environment, said Principal Pamela Xavier. ISB Hon.Chairman Prince Natarajan, Hon.Secretary Saji Antony and EC Members congratulated Team Riffa for organizing the awareness week with a sensible approach to health and safety in the school.
