Indian School Celebrates Republic Day

The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) celebrated the 74th Republic Day with patriotic fervor and gaiety on Thursday. The students took pride in glorifying and celebrating the spirit of unity and brotherhood. The school echoed with patriotic songs as children danced to the tunes of patriotic songs, sang patriotic songs, and were dressed up in tri-coloured costumes to mark the occasion. ISB Hon. Chairman Prince S Natarajan launched the celebrations by unfurling the national flag on the school premises in Isa Town. Hon.Secretary Saji Antony, Hon.Vice-Chairman Jayafar Maidani, Executive Committee Members Binu Mannil Varughese, Mohammad Khursheed Alam, Premalatha NS, Rajesh MN, Ajayakrishnan V,Principal VR Palaniswamy, Riffa campus Principal Pamela Xavier, Staff Representative Johnson K Devassy,Vice-Principals, staff and students attended the ceremony. The cultural programme began with the school band under the leadership of bandmaster Rushikesh Mukundrao Lakhe and band captain Ribin Thomas (XII A) escorting the dignitaries to the Jashanmal auditorium followed by scouts and guides and cubs and bulbuls. National salute and national anthem were followed by the patriotic song by the school band. Grade V students presented the invocation dance. Principal VR Palaniswamy welcomed the gathering. On this occasion, Prince S Natarajan who presided the function enlightened the students of the importance of Republic Day and implementation of the Constitution. Prince S Natarajan highlighted the significance of the Republic Day which is celebrated to mark the adoption of the Indian Constitution, which came into effect on this day in 1950. Bahrain Under 19 cricket team members and ISB band members were presented certificates for their excellence and meritorious service for the school. Tiny tots from Riffa campus presented cultural programmes which captivated the mind of the audience. Head Teacher Jose Thomas gave the Republic Day speech. Students Blessvin Brawin (III N), Sera Kishor (II N) ,Krishna Rajeevan Nair (X F) and Shreya Vinesh (III R) also gave speeches in which they highlighted the significance of the momentous occasion in Indian history. Patriotic songs, dance and Punjabi dance reflected the cultural variety of incredible India. Hon.Chairman Prince S Natarajan, Hon. Secretary Saji Antony, Principals VR Palaniswamy, and Pamela Xavier congratulated the students and teachers for their active participation in organizing the Republic Day in a grand style.
