Indian School Celebrates Vishwa Hindi Divas

The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) in association with the Indian Embassy celebrated Vishwa Hindi Divas 2023 with various colorful programmes at the school’s Jashanmal Auditorium on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. Chief Guest Indian Ambassador Piyush Srivastava inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. ISB Hon.Executive Committee Member-Academics Mohammad Khursheed Alam, Principal VR Palaniswamy, Staff Representative Johnson K Devassy, Vice-Principals, Head Teachers and Heads of Departments attended. In his speech Indian Ambassador Piyush Srivastava highlighted the contributions of Hindi in enriching Indian culture. He congratulated the winners and read out Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message for Vishwa Hindi Divas. The Ambassador appreciated the efforts put in by the ISB towards the celebration of Vishwa Hindi Divas in a grand manner. He appreciated the programme conducted and presented by the students, especially the patriotic song and Doha recitation performed by first prize winners from the Indian School, Shreya Gopkumar (Std. 8) and Rudra Rupesh Aiyer (Std.9). E.C Member Mohammed Khursheed Alam said Hindi is the connecting language in India. Through this language any person can communicate in any part of the multilingual society. The programme which was organized by the Hindi Department started with the national anthem of Bahrain and India followed by the school prayer.The Holy Qur’an was recited by grade 9 student Shadab Qamar. Hindi Department Head Baboo Khan welcomed the gathering. This was the grand finale of week-long celebrations which were conducted in two phases. In the first phase inter school competitions were organized on December 13. The following inter school competitions were conducted: Hindi Handwriting for Std. IV & V, Hindi Poem Recitation for Std. VI, Hindi Solo Song for Std. VII & VIII and Hindi Doha Recitation Competition for Std. IX & X. The New Millennium School, The Asian School, The New Indian School, Bahrain Indian School, New Horizon School, Al Noor International School and Ibn Al Hytham Islamic School were the other CBSE schools which took part in the competitions. Apart from competitions there were a variety of programmes such as patriotic songs, value-based songs and folk dances. First prize winners for the Hindi Poem Recitation, Hindi Solo Song and Hindi Doha Recitation performed on the occasion. Winners' names were announced by HoD Baboo Khan and were awarded with trophies and certificates by the chief guest . Hindi Divas organizing committee members Mala Singh, Shabreen Sulthana, Kahkashan Khan, Mahanaz Khan, Sheema Attukandathil, Sayali AmodKelkar, Girija M.K, Jooli Vivek, Ganga Kumari, Sreekala Suresh, teachers and students from the Hindi Department were present during the programme. School orchestra team members Raman Kumar, Jolina Anna Dias, Shreyas Kiran Dubey, Sreenidhi Mathur, Neha Keshubhai Bhogesara, Krishnaraj Sisodiya, Mohammed Adeeb and Anish Santosh performed the songs. Vote of thanks was presented by grade 9 student Neha Keshubhai Bhogesara. Following are the Interschool Competition winners: Hindi Handwriting (Class IV & V ): 1.
