ISB celebrates Punjabi Divas -2022

The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) celebrated Punjabi Divas-2022 online in vibrant colours on January 27. The programme, which was organised by the Punjabi Language Department of the school, started with the national anthems of Bahrain and India. The school prayer song was performed by students Rashmi Ganesh and Roshni Ganesh of grade VII. Recitation from the Holy Qur’an was done by Mohammed Adeeb Khan of grade VIII. Recitation from Guru Granth Sahib was done by Ammrit Kaur. Punjabi language Teacher Rewa Rani welcomed the participants. This was the grand finale of a weeklong celebration wherein many competitions were organised for the Punjabi Third Language students. The main competitions were picture identification for class 4, story telling for class 6, poem recitation for class 7 and Punjabi folk song for class 8. Apart from competitions there were a variety of programmes such as 'Punjabi Bhangra Dance' which was the main attraction of the programme. It was performed by Jasmeet Kaur, Kanwal Loty and Gursahej. Punjabi poems, stories and folk songs were also performed by the first prize winners Ekamjeet Singh Sidhu, Amrit Kaur and Ramanbir Singh. Punjabi Gidda dance and Bhangra dances also were performed by students which were appreciated by the attendees. A slide presentation about the state of Punjab was given by Jasmeet Kaur and Gursahej Kaur. HoD Baboo Khan announced the names of prize winners of folk songs. Head Teacher- Activity Middle Section CM Junith announced the result for poem recitation. Senior teachers Shaliny Mereena and Srilatha Nair announced the names of prize winners for story telling and picture identification competitions. Gursahaj Kaur proposed the vote of thanks. Hon.Chairman Prince S Natarajan, Hon.Secretary Saji Antony and Principal VR Palaniswamy congratulated the students on their active participation in the programme.
