ISB Celebrates Tamil Day

The Indian School celebrated Tamil Day virtually on January 13, 2022. The programme was organised by the Department of Tamil marking Thai Pongal, a four-day festival which according to the Tamil calendar is usually celebrated from January 14 to January 17. Principal VR Palaniswamy, Vice-Principals Anand Nair, Satheesh G, Vinod S, Head Teachers, Heads of Departments, Coordinators, staff and students attended. The programme commenced with the national anthems followed by prayer by Margaret Letitia Lawrence of Grade X, then by the recital of Holy Quran by Syed Aseelah of X. The welcome address was presented by Praveen Kumar of Grade X and the vote of thanks was given by Shakthi Kalaichelvi of Grade X. The Masters of Ceremonies were Grade IX students Ashwanth Sivakumar and Atifa Inaaya. HoD Trévise Michel and Tamil Teacher Rajeswari Manikandan coordinated the programme. Head Teacher Jose Thomas, HoD-Commerce Dr. Rashid and Teacher Anandhi Laxmanan spoke about the beauty and the importance of the Tamil language. Rajeswari Manikandan welcomed the gathering. Rishikesh Sriram of Grade VIII presented Thamizh Thaai Vazhthu. Harini Manikandan of Grade IX presented Invocation Dance followed by Folk dance presented by Grade VIII - Shumvarthini Kannan, Thanushka Ramilvannan and Darshini Muthukumar. Vengatanathan Balaji of Grade IX performed instrumental play and Shine Mascarnas of IX presented Cinematic Dance. Shifas Ahamath of IX presented a speech. Sri Oviya Manikandan presented Bharathiyar Song. Poojasri Ayyanar of V presented Folk Dance. Atishaya Suresh of VIII performed a semi-classical dance.
