ISB Riffa Campus Students Celebrate Yoga Day

The Indian School Riffa Campus students participated in the International Yoga Day activities virtually, in harmony with the theme ‘Yoga for Wellbeing and Goodwill’. They practised yoga with peers and teachers and stated its many benefits to rekindle the spirit of yoga. Along with yoga, relevant activities were held through the week leading up to the official observance on June 21 as part of the infotainment. Quiz sessions, mascot designing, presentations, photographing yoga routines, group discussions, etc were some of the highlights. Using impactful presentations, teachers explained the significance of yoga on the mind and body and encouraged students to continue its practice. They discussed breathing techniques, which would help begin a day with ease and calmness, improve attention span and memory, and simple exercises to help manage posture, physical fitness, etc. Prior to the event students distributed invitations and posters inviting the Principal, Head Teachers, Coordinators and teachers to participate and rejuvenate. "Physical Education and fitness have been given high importance in the school’s curriculum, where students are encouraged to remain fit through simple, effective, and enjoyable exercises. Yoga is embedded with students’ routine exercises to help them experience fundamental well-being, flexibility, confidence", said Riffa Campus Principal Pamela Xavier. On International Yoga Day, ISB Hon. Chairman Prince S Natarajan said yoga has become a source of inner strength for people and a medium to transform negativity to creativity amid the coronavirus pandemic. Emphasizing the importance of yoga, Prince S Natarajan said, " The United Nations, recognizing the importance of the Indian practice in these trying times, has decided to celebrate the day this year by focusing on ‘Yoga for well-being’ . Its aim is to raise awareness about how yoga can promote the holistic health of every individual." " Yoga, the ancient Indian discipline, which is aimed at integrating all aspects of the body with the mind and soul to achieve ultimate happiness and balanced life, is helping people remain healthy during these trying times ", said ISB Hon. Secretary Saji Antony. Students also celebrated ‘Fathers Day’ onJune 20,2021. Children expressed their affection by clicking selfies with their father, recited poems, shared their thoughts and made beautiful cards and crafts.
