'Think Pink ISB' spreads awareness on Breast Cancer

The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) observed October 2020 as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, with the annual campaign to increase attention and support for the awareness, early detection and treatment of the disease. Based on the theme 'Think Pink ISB' students were urged to prepare articles and posters related to breast cancer awareness and display it online. Every year the Indian School spreads awareness about breast cancer and the significance of early detection by organising special assemblies, posters and decorating the campus in pink. Middle Section students prepared posters with the message that breast cancer can be overcome with courage and strength and that early detection of the disease remains the cornerstone of breast cancer control. ISB Hon. Chairman Prince S Natarajan said: “The core principle of Think Pink ISB is creating awareness. Education is the first step to prevention. When we educate our mothers, daughters, sisters, we can help them make informed decisions, which may ultimately save their lives.'' ISB Hon. Secretary Saji Antony said: ‘Awareness surrounding breast cancer is incredibly important as early detection, often through screening, can catch the disease when it is most treatable.'' ISB Hon.EC Member-Health & Environment Ajayakrishnan V said that the Indian School is happy and proud to be part of the worldwide campaign to spread awareness about breast cancer in the month of October. ISB Principal VR Palaniswamy said: ''Breast cancer awareness is an effort to create awareness and reduce the stigma of breast cancer through education on the risk factors and treatment, hoping that greater knowledge will lead to earlier detection of the disease.'' Riffa Campus Principal Pamela Xavier said: ''The Breast Cancer Awareness Month, marked in our campus every October, helps to increase attention and support for the awareness, early detection and treatment as well as palliative care of this disease.''
