ISB Holds Annual Training Camp for Scouts and Guides

The Indian School held the Annual Training Camp for Scouts and Guides on Friday at the Riffa Campus. The Troop Leaders, Group leaders, Patrol Leaders and the members of the Scouts and Guides attended the camp. A record number of 220 students turned out for the camp along with 11 teachers. ISB Hon. Chairman Prince S Natarajan, Hon. Secretary Saji Antony, EC Member Rajesh Nambiar, Principal VR Palaniswamy and Riffa Campus Principal Pamela Xavier attended the opening ceremony. Prince S Natarajan reminded the importance of young leaders in the present world and how to develop the leadership qualities through scouts and guides. He emphasized the quote “What we do in our working hours determines what we have. What we do in our leisure hours determines what we are.” He has appreciated the scout masters and expressed his happiness about the growth and success of Scouts and Guides at the Indian School for the past 3 years and recorded their commendable service to the school. Principal V.R.Palaniswamy in his presidential address expressed happiness about the scouts activities, the commendable job during the school programmes and the way in which the children are moulded into good citizens and leaders. Saji Antony asked the participants to develop the leadership qualities through this kind of camps and asked to utilize this opportunity and help the school to maintain good discipline. Rajesh Nambiar recalled his younger days and explained his camp days, hard work, discipline, determination and the attraction of uniform activities. The camp activities included B.P Exercise, Morning Jerk, Uniform, Kit Inspection, various knots, Spare time activities, Camp craft with waste bottles and plates, Camp games, Camp songs, Camp fire etc. Scout master Mukunda Warrier was the Camp Chief. Scout Troop Leader Alen Joy welcomed the gathering and Guides Troop Leader N. Suhani proposed vote of thanks. The following prizes were distributed to the participants. 1. Best Camper (Scouts) - Jenil Kumar 2. Second Best Camper (Scouts) - Uday Shankar 3. Best Camper (Guides) - Mayoogha 4. Second Best Camper (Guides) - Manna 5. Best Scout Patrol of the Camp -Bear. 6.
