SRI LANKAN STARS BAG FIRST EVER ISB WOMEN’S CRICKET TROPHY

Sri Lankan Stars has lifted the trophy in the first ever ISB Mega Fair Softball Night Cricket Tournament 2019 for women at the Indian School Bahrain (ISB) ground in Isa Town. In the final they won against the opponent Bahrain Red on Thursday. Sri Lankan Stars scored 83/2 in 5 overs. In reply Bahrain Red could score only 31/5 in 5 overs. Taranga who scored 38 runs was declared the Player of the Match. Six teams participated in the tournament in two groups. Group A: Bahrain Red, Bahrain White and ISB Juniors; Group B: ISB Riffa, Karnataka Social Club and Sri Lankan Stars. Earlier the qualifying rounds witnessed some interesting matches. In one exciting match, Sri Lankan Star's record breaking performance of 125 runs in 5 overs against Karnataka Social Club was the highest total in the entire cricket tournament at the Indian School ground. Chasing the huge total, Karnataka Social Club could manage only 26 runs in 5 overs. The tournament is conducted in association with Hidd Premier League. ISB Hon Chairman Prince S Natarajan distributed trophy to winners. Cricket Bahrain Association(CBA) General Secretary Yaseer Zafar and CBA Treasurer Rizwan Shah were the Guests of Honour in the Final. ISB Hon Secretary Saji Antony, EC Member-Sports Rajesh MN, EC Member Finance Adv Binu Mannil Varughese ,EC Member Transport Mohammad Nayaz Ullah, Fair Organizing Committee General Convener R Ramesh, Principal VR Palaniswamy, Physical Education Teacher and the Head of Schools & Youth Cricket in Bahrain Mukunda Warrier , Tournament Convener Adil Ahmed and HPL Convener Noushad attended the ceremony.
