The Indian School Celebrates Malayalam Day

The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) conducted Malayalam Day celebration on Monday in connection with the Kerala Piravi which marks the birth of the state of Kerala in India.The celebration held at the ISB Jashanmal Auditorium was inaugurated by prominent literary writer and cultural activist Mr. Jayachandran by lightening the lamp. Principal V.R.Palaniswamy, Vice-Principals, Head Teachers , HoD and other staff members attended the function. During his speech Mr. Jayachandran pointed out that using mother tongue helps a child develop their critical thinking and literacy skills. He praised parents and ISB language teachers for providing great support and guidance to students to learn Malayalam. 'Mother tongue makes it easier for children to pick up and learn other languages. Mother tongue develops a child's personal, social and cultural identity' Mr Jayachandran said. Ms.Febina welcomed the gathering. A variety of entertainment programmes like folk dance, orchestra and poem recitation added colour to the function. Earlier, ISB Malayalam Department had organized various competitions for the students. Trophies and certificates were awarded to the winners during the function. Ms.Ashwani delivered vote of thanks.
