The Indian School wins the Mothercare ISB APJ Inter-Junior School Science Quiz

The Indian School walked away victorious with the much coveted Mothercare ISB APJ Inter-Junior School Science Quest 2019 winner’s trophy on Friday. The winning team consisted of students Harshin Sijesh and Devasree Susanthkumar. The first runner-up position was bagged by New Millennium School represented by Chris Ivan and Pavithra Krishna. The second runner-up position was shared by the New Indian School represented by Shawnita Jose Anand and Geevarghese Shijo Koomulliyil and the Indian School represented by Meenakshi Deepak and Shashankit Rupesh Iyer. The event was organized by the Indian School, Riffa campus. Among the other finalists were two teams from the New Horizon School. Chief Guest Indian Embassy Attache(Culture) Mohini Bhatia and Title Sponsor Mothercare Concept Manager Sunil Gopal lighted the lamp. ISB Chairman Prince S Natarajan, Secretary Saji Antony, Assistant Secretary Premalatha NS, Executive Committee Members Mohammad Khursheed Alam, Rajesh Nambiar, Adv. Binu Mannil Varughese,Saji George, Mohammed Nayaz Ullah, Principal VR Palaniswamy, Riffa Campus Principal Pamela Xavier, Staff Representative Johnson Devassy, ARG Marketing Head Kaizad Sanjana, HR Head Joel David, Inventory Head Rafeeq Pulikkool and Asst. Marketing Manager Vivek Sagar attended the ceremony. The show was hosted by quiz master Sarath Menon, ably assisted by his committed team who worked across borders to put together a well audited bank of questions and brain teasers tailor-made for the age group. Quiz team consisted of members Sharmila Naveen,Simmi Shidesh Chodankar,Lakshmi Ajith and RK Swami. The thrilling Science Quest this year had begun with the preliminary rounds on October 5 at the Riifa Campus Auditorium with 38 teams participating from across 14 schools in Bahrain. This was followed by the prefinal rounds on October 12 at the same venue. At the prefinal rounds, 12 participants were honoured with golden cards who moved into the final round. The initiative of the Indian School to stimulate higher order thinking skills among primary school students has gained momentum and is well appreciated all over the Kingdom. The increasing number of schools participating in the event is a testimony to this fact. Mothercare, the title sponsors for the third year, gave away gift hampers to the semifinalists and finalists. The quiz was conducted in a very interactive way and the teams participated with great enthusiasm. The quiz master kept the participants' spirits high with humour and fun rounds. The final round witnessed great synergy and gusto among the teams who came up with fascinating answers as the quiz progressed. The audience were really thrilled upon the riveting questions and the intelligent responses from the participating teams. The audience round at the quiz was much appreciated with rejoinders and applauses and awaited with many gift and dinner vouchers to be won. ISB Chairman Prince S Natarajan congratulated all participants and encouraged them to showcase their knowledge, strategic thinking, team work and confidence. “Such events play vital role in helping our young minds to be better citizens acquiring perception about the whole world through these events”, he added. Hon. Secretary Saji Antony spelled out words of gratefulness to one and all for the success of the event particularly Team Riffa for scaling new heights. The evening unfolded with scintillating performances by the students of ISB, Riffa. Riffa Campus Principal Pamela Xavier welcomed the gathering and encouraged parents to appreciate and applaud the efforts of the quiz finalists.
