|ISB BOOK WEEK|
The Indian School Annual Book Week for the year 2012 is organized on the Isa town campus of the school from 4th-8th November 2012.
The Indian School, Bahrain has been celebrating the Malayalam Day and Kerala Piravi since 1st November 2012. Essay Writing, Poem Recitation, Elocution and Handwriting competitions were conducted for Junior and Senior Level. The Grand Finale of the celebrations is held on Wednesday 7 November 2012 on the Isa Town Campus of the school.
Dr. George Onakkoor, noted Malayalam novelist, short story writer and Sahitya Academy Winner is the Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker. The Guest of Honour and Guest Speaker is Mr. Sudeesh Raghavan, winner of Atlas Kairali Literary Competition.
The formal ceremony for initiating little children to learning and introducing formally to the world of knowledge is held on 24 October 2012 at 8.00 a.m.
As a part of Navratri and Dusshera celebrations a Dandiya Programme is organized for the students on Tuesday, 23 October 2012 from 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm on the Isa Town Campus
|YOUTH FESTIVAL 2012|
The Indian School Youth Festival is a mega event in the academic calendar of the school. It provides a platform for students to exhibit their latent talents. Every year students participate with interest and competitive spirit to make the event a memorable one in their school life.
Students are grouped into four Houses, namely ARYABHATTA, J C BOSE, C V RAMAN and VIKRAM SARABHAI. Each House has a House Captain, Asst. House Captain and House Prefect who along with the House Master, House Mistress and Deputies co-ordinate the representation of the students in the competitions.
There are 91 Individual Events and 30 Group Events in which 4500 students participate. Competitions are conducted on the basis of Houses. The students come to the Finals after the Preliminary Selection which gives opportunities to all those wish to compete. Hence the Youth Festival is very grand.
It is a matter of pride for the students to win the coveted titles of KALARATNA, KALASHRI, GROUP CHAMPIONSHIP, HOUSE STAR and HOUSE CHAMPIONSHIP.
This year the Youth Festival inauguration is on 15 October 2012 and the Grand Finale is on 20 October 2012.

Our School Principal Mr. V R Palaniswamy received the covetous National Award for Teachers from the President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee on 5 September 2012 at New Delhi. The award is the highest given in the field of education. It is given to our Principal for his contribution in the field of education and meritorious service to the community. He is the only recipient from abroad to receive the award this year. This is his second award at national level. The first was the CBSE national award in 2008.
The Executive Committee of the Indian School along with all the staff, students and parent-members felicitate the Principal Mr. V R Palaniswamy and have marked the 22 of September, 2012 as a special day.
His Excellency Dr. E Mohan Kumar Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Bahrain has consented to be the Chief Guest and Dr. Ravichandran, Director, Directorate of Distance Education, Madras University, Chennai, India, is the Guest of Honour for the Felicitation Ceremony on Saturday 22 September, 2012 at 6.30 p.m. at Jashanmal Auditorium of the Isa Town Campus.
The programme includes a formal reception to the Principal with the Guard of Honour from the band and traditional events like Thalapoli, Chenda Mela and Karagattam. It is followed by the Felicitation Speeches by the invited dignitaries and the Senior Staff of the Indian School. Principal Mr. V R Palaniswamy will be presented with a Gold Medallion in matching with his golden feat. There will also be cultural programmes performed by teachers, students and community members as an expression of joy and entertainment to the audience.
|FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME|
A Faculty Development Programme is arranged in the Isa Town Campus for Teachers on 20 and 22 September 2012. The Resource Person is Prof. Jacob Kurian Onattu, Principal, Baselius College, Kottayam, Kerala, India. The topics on discussion are: Teacher Motivation and Communication Skills and English Language and Literature Teaching Strategies and Techniques.

As a part of Counselling and Career Guidance the Indian School International Education Exhibition was organized on the Isa Town campus for two days, 21st and 22nd June, 2012. Reputed educational institutions from Bahrain and abroad had participated in the exhibition. The exhibition helped the students to choose a career path based on the individuals interest and expertise.

The Award Ceremony for the Grades V, VI, VII and VIII was conducted on 21 June, 2012. 232 students who scored A1 in all the subjects were awarded during the ceremony held at Jashanmal Auditorium on the Isa Town campus.

The Indian School Investiture Ceremony of the Junior Section (III STD) was held in the Jashanmal auditorium on 20th June, 2012. The Prefect and Student Council were inducted in a ceremonious function. The democratic set up of the school has been instilled in the minds of the young leaders.
|Visit of Archbishop of Knanaya Jacobite Syrian Church His Grace Kuriakose Mor Severios 17.6.12|
His Grace Kuriakose Mor Severios visited the school on 17.6.12 and blessed the students and the school. He asked the students to retain the innocence of the child. He wanted them to be the ambassadors of the Indian School in spreading all over the world the virtues they have imbibed in the school.
|CAREER GUIDANCE TALK TO COMMERCE STUDENTS 17.6.12|
CA Dinesh N Nair gave a Career Guidance Talk to the students of XI and XII (Commerce Stream) on 17 June, 2012. He explained the theoretical aspect of the fundamentals of computation of Income Tax and FEMA. The lively academic oriented lecture also included an interaction session in which the questions posed by the students related to the topic were answered.
|FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME 16.6.12|
A talk on TAXATION & FOREIGN EXCHANGE MANGAEMENT ACT (FEMA) of Government of India was organised to the staff as a part of the Faculty Development Programme on 16 June, 2012. Mr. Dinesh N Nair, a well-known Chartered Accountant based in the commercial capital of India, Mumbai was the guest speaker.
Mr. Dinesh N Nair simplified the tax procedure and FEMA to make the layman understand them. He avoided all the jargons that would make the already complicated subject unintelligible. He gave them useful tips to legalize the income and savings in India. He also answered a number of queries asked by the staff.

The Parent Teacher Meeting of LKG to V STD was held on 15.6.12 on the Isa Town Campus. Parents in large number attended the meeting with their wards. There had been a useful interaction between the parents and teachers.

The Academic Special of the ISB Tidings will be released on this occasion.

The Academic Award Ceremony of IV and V STD will be held on 7th June, 2012 5.00 p.m. at the Jashanmal Auditorium on the Isa Town Campus of the school.
|INDIAN SCHOOL BREAKS RECORD IN AISSCE|
The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) has proved its class in the All India Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (12th Class) conducted by CBSE in March, 2012. The pass percentage of the school is 99.2%. A total number of 495 students took the examination this year. SHRUTHI MUTHUKUMARAN with 483 marks out of 500 stands as the topper in the school. She is also the topper (with 96.6%) among all schools on the island. A record number of six students secured 100 percent marks: Mathematics (2), Engineering Graphics (2), Computer Science (1) and Marketing (1). 17 students secured A1 Grades in all subjects.
The school has produced one of the best ever results in Commerce stream with a 100% pass. Archana Vashist and Nidhi Singh top the Commerce and Humanities streams respectively with 96.2% marks.
The Hon. Chairman, Mr. Abraham John, Members of the Executive Committee and Principal Mr. V.R. Palaniswamy congratulated the students on their spectacular performance. They also appreciated the staff for their sincere team effort and the parents for their extensive support. The result reflects the thrust given to the academics, conducting special classes for the students who need special care and guidance.
|600/600, The historic performance by the Indian School Students in 10th Examination|
The Indian School once again proved its class by achieving 100% results in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 10 examination held in March 2012. All the students who appeared for the examinations passed. That is 600/600 passed without any compartment. 91 students secured A1 grades in all the subjects with the Cumulative Point Grade Average (CGPA) 10 out of 10 which is a classic performance.
Hon. Chairman Mr. Abraham John congratulated the Principal, Staff, students and the proud parents for their historic Performance. He said that this was made possible by systematic classroom teaching, regular assessment, continuous remedial measures, constant interaction with the parents and proper guidance and counseling. He also opined that this performance the school is beginning a new era.

The examination of Class IX (Summative Assessment) commences on March 1, 2010. It is conducted as per the revised pattern of CBSE. The time table for the same is as mentioned:

|Intensive Coaching |
The school is conducting an intensive coaching for the students who need extra care in studies of Class X and XII from January 27,2009. Special arrangements are made to orient the students in the subjects the students are percieved to be weak.
|Republic Day Celebrations |
ISB is celebrating the 61st Republic Day of India on 26 January 2010, in the Isa Town campus at 9.30 am.
The Indian School Fair, for the welfare of students and staff will be held on January 21 and 22, 2010 from 10 am to 10 pm in the Isa Town campus. The school Art and Science Exhibition will also be held on the same days.
|Model I Examinations|
The first model examination for Class X and Class XII begins on Monday January 11, 2010. The examinations begin at 09 30 am. After the examinations, the particular question paper will be discussed by the subject teachers concerned.
|Parent Teacher Interaction|
An interaction of parents whose children are appearing for Class X and Class XII CBSE examinations is arranged on January 10 and 11, 2010 respectively from 07 00 pm. The meeting will be addressed by the Principal and the subject teachers on study methodology. Parents can also interact with the teachers on issues related to the subjects and general study habits.
|Annual Day- Isa Town|
The Annual Day of the Isa town campus of the school will be held on Friday January 8, 2010 from 05 30 pm at the Jashanmal Auditorium. The Chief Guest of the function will be Mr. Ajay Kumar, Charge de Affairs, Indian Embassy, Bahrain and the Guest of Honour will be Mr. R. Thomodharan, CEO and Managing Director, LIC (International)Bahrain. A variety of cultural programmes by students and staff will be held. Prizes and Gold medals will be distributed to the CBSE Gulf toppers, CBSE National Athletic Meet winners, Cricket players who represented the Bahrain National u 19 team, coaches and staff members.
|Mid-term break |
The school will remain closed for a mid-term break from 24th December 2009 to 2nd January 2010 and will reopen from 3rd January 2010 at usual hours.The office will remain open for cash collection on 29th and 30th December 2009.
|National Day Holidays|
The school will remain closed from December 16 to 19, 2009 on account of the Bahrain National Day.
|Bahrain National Day Celebrations|
The National Day Celebrations will be held in the Jashanmal Auditorium on December 15, 2009 from 10 am to 12 noon by the Department of Arabic.Various cultural programmes will mark the occassion.
|FAIR 2010- Ticket Launching Ceremony|
The Ticket Launching Ceremony of the Indian School FAIR 2010 will be held on December 14, 2009 at 08 00 pm in the Jashanmal Auditorium, Isa Town campus. All parents, staff, well-wishers and students are invited to attend the same.

The Annual General Body Meeting 2009,adjourned on Friday November 20, 2009 will be resumed on Friday December 11, 2009 from 08 30 am to 11 15 am. The members are requested to produce your CPR card and the membership no. at the entrance.
|PTM Sitra Campus|
The Parents Teachers Meeting of the Sitra campus will be held on Friday, December 11 2009 from 03 00 pm to 05 00 pm and from 05 30 pm to 07 30 pm.
|PTM Dec. 2009|
The Parents Teachers meeting of the Isa town campus will be held on December 4, 2009 from 09 am to 11 am and from 01 pm to 03 pm. The progress report of the students will be given to the parents during the PTM.
|ISB Career Expo 2009|
An International Educational Exhibition will be held on December 3 and 4, 2009 from 09 am to 06 pm in the Gandhi Block of the Isa town campus. More than 25 international and local universities/institutes will display various career options. The students and parents can get first hand information and some can even avail of spot admissions.
A seminar and exhibition on Astronomy will be held on December 2 and 3,2009 from 9 00 am to 1 pm in the Jashanmal Auditorium of the Isa town campus by the Astronomical Society of the Indian School- 'Nakshatra.' Prof. Amalendu Bandyopadhyay and Prof. Parameswaran Venkatakrishnan, eminent scientists from India will be addressing the students and staff on these days.An exhibition on astronomy will also be conducted during the seminar.
The Indian School is conducting a workshop on film craft 'Montage 09'on November 26, 28 and 29 from 08 30 am to 06 00 pm. The resource person conducting the workshop is Mr. Madhu Eravankara, the acclaimed film director and jury of many film International Film Festivals. Students will be trained in all aspects of film making during the workshop.
|Annual General Meeting|
The Annual General Meeting of the parents of the Indian School will be held on November 25, 2009 from 08 30 am in the Jashanmal Auditorium of the Isa Town campus of the school.
The French Day celebrations will be held on November 12, 2009. The celebrations will include various cultural programmes including competitions on an inter school level.
|Annual Sports Day|
The Annual Sports Day will be conducted on 5 and 6 November 2009 at the Isa Town campus. The inaugural ceremony will be held on Thursday Nov. 5, 2009 at 8 00 am and the closing ceremony will be held on Friday Nov. 6, 2009 at 1 pm.Drills,track and field events and parents' sports will be held during the sports day.
|Annual Book Week|
The Indian School, Bahrain will be celebrating its Annual Book Week from 8th - 12th November, 2009. There will be a Book Fair as part of the celebrations. Competitions will be conducted for the students of Middle Section (Std IV VIII)
The school closes for summer vacation from 19 -07-2009 to 26-09-2009. The office at Isa Town Campus will be functioning from 8.00 am to 12.30 pm from Sunday to Thursday. Sitra office will be closed during the summer vacation.
|Primary School Summer Break|
Please be informed that with the advent of summer, we would like to close the KG section (LKG & UKG) of the Primary school for summer break from Sunday, 12th July 2009. Please note that the school will reopen on 27th September 2009.
|Rangoli a Dance Carnival |
We are happy to inform you that we are planning to organize Rangoli, a Dance Carnival in the month of October and it will include competitions in Folk Dance, Arabic Dance, Western Dance and Cinematic Dance. We are also planning an inter Gulf School Badminton Tournament apart from other activities.
